Fate of zinc in an electroplating sludge during electrokinetic treatments.
Chemical structure of zinc in the electrokinetic treatments of an electroplating sludge has been studied by in situ extended X-ray absorption fine structural (EXAFS) and X-ray absorption near edge structural (XANES) spectroscopies in the present work. The least-square fitted XANES spectra indicate that the main zinc compounds in the sludge were ZnCO(3) (75%), ZnOSiO(2) (17%) and Zn(OH)(2) (7%)....
متن کاملDECORATIVE CHROMIUM and CADMIUM SUBSTITUTES
Although alloy tin plating has been known and used for many years, this paper will describe the use of a new non-cyanide tin/zinc alloy as a possible replacement coating for cadmium and the use of a tin/nickel alloy as a possible substitute for barrel decorative chromium plating. A review on the corrosion properties of tin, zinc and cadmium compared to tin/zinc alloys and review of the properti...
متن کاملTin, Bismuth, and Tin–Bismuth Alloy Electrodeposition from Chlorometalate Salts in Deep Eutectic Solvents
The electrodeposition of tin, bismuth, and tin-bismuth alloys from SnII and BiIII chlorometalate salts in the choline chloride/ethylene glycol (1:2 molar ratio) deep eutectic solvent was studied on glassy carbon and gold by cyclic voltammetry, rotating disc voltammetry, and chronoamperometry. The SnII-containing electrolyte showed one voltammetric redox process corresponding to SnII/Sn0. The di...
متن کاملIncomplete elimination of precursor ligands during atomic layer deposition of zinc-oxide, tin-oxide, and zinc-tin-oxide.
For atomic layer deposition (ALD) of doped, ternary, and quaternary materials achieved by combining multiple binary ALD processes, it is often difficult to correlate the material properties and growth characteristics with the process parameters due to a limited understanding of the underlying surface chemistry. In this work, in situ Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy was employed du...
متن کاملZinc Alloy Electrodeposition for Corrosion Protection
t is known that the protective value of zinc is partially a result of its ability to form a protective film when plated on a base metal, such as steel. The zinc is sacrificial and corrodes I preferentially to protectthe steel. Although pure zinc coating provides some degree of protection for the substrate, in a severe corrosion environment, zinc is consumed rapidly. For this reason, it is usual...
